I liked the answer I gave to this question way too much to not share it with the rest of the internet. Maybe I’ll have more general Miitomo answer sharing posts at some point. I’ll go ahead and add a #1 to the title just in case. Of course, if anyone wants to add me on Miitomo, just use the Miitomo email-sending thingy to request a friending.

Why would any of you even want to come to the USA? I mean, look, I can certainly understand there may be some problems in your home country that you may want to escape from, but to this country? Where there are other problems, ranting and punching assholes, and the possibility of an evil spirit of Halloween becoming the leader?? I’m sure there are a lot of countries you could move to that aren’t on the road to a collapsed bridge.
Aside from that, English is an awful language. It’s pretty terrible. It’s mostly just nonsensical, and we can’t even agree on a proper neuter-gender pronoun.
I mean, when I look at all the main-English-speaking countries, I think, wow, are all the English countries just terrible or something??
Oh, except Scotland. You guys still seem cool. Scotland kind of completely voted to remain in the European Union, so maybe they’re having second thoughts about that whole “hey, maybe we should stick around with England”. Also I haven’t heard much about Ireland lately, I dunno how they’re doing, maybe I shouldn’t just assume the worst about all English countries? M…Maybe I’m going to anyway?
Anyway, come to the US if you really want, but 240 years ago we left England, and now England has left the EU, so don’t be surprised if we refuse to be one-upped and vote to leave the United Nations

So there’s this: Wall Street donors seek to block Warren VP pick (via Politico). Basically Wall Street people saying they’ll stop donating to Hillary Clinton if she chooses Senator Elizabeth Warren as her vice president running mate.
I’m not entirely keen on the idea of Warren as a VP actually (she can probably do more good in the Senate), but based on this having her as Clinton’s VP might actually get me to vote for Clinton! Hey, if money is speech, so is no money.
After I thought of this I imagined a theoretical conversation where someone asks if that means I might not vote for Clinton to stop Trump. My answer was yes, because voting for the sake of not-the-other removes all possible leverage from my vote. It means money is more of speech than voting is.
Then I realized that the two-party system is an oligopoly. Obviously not a monopoly because there are two parties, but it’s one party away from a monopoly, and if you don’t like one of the two, you’re out of luck. A quote from the Politico article:
But more moderate Democrats in the financial services industry argue that Sanders voters will come on board anyway

Some years ago I had a blog post about To Be or Not To Be by Ryan North, a chooseable-path version of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Well, now he has Romeo and/or Juliet! And good gourd this book is 41% off as of my typing this, sheesh. Anyway, I got the book in the mail today and have done one readthrough. I successfully died at breakfast, I am off to an excellent start, it was fully intentional.
For To Be or Not To Be I kept track of what pages I read and tried to figure out which ones I had yet to read. This time I’m being much more thorough. I have a spreadsheet.
Checkmarks are pages I’ve read, the next numbers are which pages these lead to. If they have a checkmark on them then I do not need to read that page again, whether because it’s an ending, I’ve read every page it can lead to, or it’s an extraneous route that leads to a page the previous page leads to also.
This book is a game, and I’m going for 100%.

Today marks three months since Slubes was re-released, and to mark this occasion a couple special things. First, the ebook is free until July 10th (and not August 10th, I seriously keep skipping July in my mind, the two months just run together for me, stupid naming convention, no, it is July 10th that the promotion lasts to). Just put in the coupon code LC88G at the Smashwords Slubes page when you get it and it will cost zero pennies.
The second thing is much sillier. I wanted to make a video of me doing some reading of Slubes, but my microphone has been broken for a while (AGAIN), so I got another idea. I pulled up the text-to-speech things on Windows 8 and fed the book through that! I think you’ll be pleasantly surprizzzzz
(Of course, if you’d rather just read an actual preview of it instead of listening to it like a normal person, such a preview is always available on the Smashwords page and on my website here.)

HOW ARE THESE LAST FEW SLICES OF BREAD STILL GOOD? IT’S NOT EVEN WONDER BREAD. THE APOCALYPSE COULD HAPPEN AND THIS BREAD WOULD PROBABLY STILL BE GOOD

About a month or so ago I decided, hey, I should start trying to post more often. I was about to say as much when I remembered all the times I said I would do so and then didn’t, thereby looking like a fool. Then I thought, hey, maybe if I don’t say anything there will be no pressure and I’ll be able to do it easier!
So! How did that turn out?
Not very good no one’s surprised.
How did I do?

Duth_Olec: Hey, you try coming up for good designs for elemental guardian thingies that aren’t actually elemental. I mean, that is to say, whatever brought these guardians into being was probably amazing and smart and at least passable in looks.
Chapter 15: Abandoned Electric Isle
Chapter 15 now available, featuring a mysterious island and a bunch of electricity everywhere. It’s dangerous and weird and definitely not my fault.
With this chapter we are 3/4 through Darmenzi! The end of the year will see the finish of this story. The actual release of the novel, well, who knows?
