Character Profile for Alden

The character profile for Alden is now available to read. He’s basically the protagonist of Wandering Fortunes, being the focus character in pretty much twice as many chapters as the other main characters. He’s also a bookworm. Yaaay. This means is is guaranteed relatable because you are also reading at the same time. This is how relatability works right. Relatable and other related words are actual words right.

In other CCC news, I’ve spent the last week working hard on Darmenzi and I’m only 60% through editing from the editor’s notes. Still I should finish in a few days and then spend a week reading through it for a final scan and if things go according to plan this book will be released in April or May so the Nottle Crystal series is almost complete in final book form yaaay! FINALLY, THE THINGS THAT HAPPENED IN THE CHAPTERS I POSTED OVER THE LAST COUPLE YEARS WILL HAPPEN FOR REAL. For a certain definition of “real”.

Also, don’t forget my Patreon, where $3+ patrons this very day get to read chapter 3 of Wandering Fortunes. Everyone else has to wait a couple more weeks.

Finally, I have CCCalling cards now. This is not really something of interest for the internet but LOOK AT THEM

Top Character Profile and Patreon Video

The character profile for Top is now available to read. A bit of this information is that which is pertinent later, but most of it is general or made clear in the first chapter. Top has kind of a weird relationship to me–Numer and the other slubes were created before Top, but I wrote stories with Top a lot more in the latter half of the previous decade, so I have some attachment to the little oddball.

There is also a new Patreon intro video for my Patreon page! Take a look, IT HAS ME HUMMING A LOT:

As it turns out, starting today $3+ patrons can read chapter 2 of Wandering Fortunes before anyone else.

One more thing to make note: I’ve gotten Darmenzi back from the editor! It’s time to pull that open and get to work on finishing this second book. I’ll keep you posted on the updates.

A couple changes to rewards on my Patreon

And by that, I mean- there are a couple changes to rewards, not- I’m not saying a couple has changed to rewards on my Patreon, that- I don’t think that even makes sense.

They’re both additions: consistent $2 tier patrons will also get their names in the finished books, and $3 tier patrons will get ebooks of the finished books a month early. These extras won’t come up more than once a year or so, so they’re paired with recurring monthly rewards. $1 tier still features a copy of ebooks when they release and also consistent status updates on future work (well, okay, consistent when I actually have a status to update), and $5 tier is a monthly video stream with even more sneak peeks and such.

Cloudy Cuckoo Cosmos coming to Medium

Along with this website and Wattpad, the Cloudy Cuckoo Cosmos chapters will be posted on Medium in 2017. Here’s the introduction.

Medium is basically a place to post all manner of writings. I don’t really know how to explain it better than that.

Wandering Fortunes coming January 1st! Patreon patrons can read chapter 1 already.

I just got the call

OMEGA PROTOCOL IS GO

wait no

The dayjob called for me to return to work on Monday. It’s time for my small social media presence to get smaller! Here’s basically my gameplan:

  • Tomorrow I’ll post the last highlight. I might return to it next year, since I intend to go on furlough again so I can then go crazy on editing.
  • I may post some art on Sunday, and then that’ll be it for a while.
  • Overall I’ll just have less time to post things, so I guess I won’t.
  • Man, I really don’t do much, do I?
  • I mean, I kept meaning to get back to making video game videos, but could never organize things enough to do so.
  • At this point my microphone probably stopped working again.
  • Oh well.
  • Chapters will still be posted at the start of each month.
  • Patrons on my Patreon will still get a weekly update, and someday this will work and I won’t have to go to a dayjob that makes me sad at the state of human affairs.
  • I may die.

My plan is to basically spend 90% of my free time working on the third book. Fortunately I’m finished up to May so I have enough of a buffer to not have to really worry at all, unlike a couple years ago (and maybe last year? I don’t remember, it was a blur). There are a couple other projects I wanted to do, and I might quickly do one before I return on Monday, buuut maybe not. I might just leave them both for next year. If I somehow find time I might even still try to get those game videos going again, but I doubt it.

2016 is now over. 2017!!! (you can’t tell but that’s in all caps)

Now up, Darmenzi Chapter 17: Final Challenge

The not-quite-tournament is under way with chapter 17 of Darmenzi! Numer faces his fears, Pocerni shows his experience, Cherry gets some punches in, and Sawn gets a bad deal. Will Conrad finally get his day and destroy his nuisances? Who will take the final orb? The answer may surprise you!

We’re in August now, and I’m expecting this month to be called back to the day job. When this happens my social media presence will probably have to die until I can get out again, probably in February. By then Darmenzi will be finished and a new story will begin. I’ll keep everyone posted.

A few Patreon updates

I did a bit of editing on the front page of my Patreon. Most notably I removed the video. I’m kind of bad at making good videos. I might make another one later, but I’m a writer first, so wouldn’t it make more sense to have writing to explain it?

There’s also a new reward. For $2 there will be a page on my website where I will put up–no, not your name, but any word you want me to. I mean, I guess you could choose your name as the word, but wouldn’t you much rather me put up maverick? Also there are a couple restrictions, mainly on size and if the word is offensive. If you want it to be unrestricted then give me, oh, let’s say $200. Because there’s no reason I should have to veto it. Okay, maybe the size thing would be an issue if you want a German word, but that’s it.

I’m still debating whether I should put back the reward for a physical copy of my books, but the reward would have to be $10 or more, so were I to do that I would want to couple it with an extra reward. I’ll keep thinking.

Bit of an update, lots of work

Oof, this week has been super busy. After reading through the next novel, Wandering Fortunes, to figure out what scenes I need to add and major changes, I went through and MADE those changes. There’s a lot. Fortunately I’m about done, and I just checked and the last group of chapters has a massive amount of big editing and scenes to add and oh gourd I’m gonna die tomorrow. I might have to push back my goal of finishing this tomorrow.

Everything but this paragraph I wrote like yesterday I think? Basically I just right now finished writing a new scene/big extension of a scene, and the next chapter begins with another new scene/extension of a scene. Besides a little beyond that, I’ve basically pushed my goal to finishing this on Wednesday. That means that things will be calmer for me next week, at least. Other things I want to do next week include editing the website a bit, and since I got my second replacement microphone recently I have some changes to the Patreon planned (with a new front page video) and I also want to get back to doing some Let’s Playing, I started doing it again like two months ago and then my microphone died. Now for more stuff I wrote like yesterday or something:

Due to this work, I’ve not been too active on the social medias. Fortunately once I do get this done things will calm down–I have a few widespread edits, but they’re focused mostly on specific words or punctuation, and then I’ll start focusing deeply on a chapter-by-chapter basis, which will allow me to slow down and give myself more time.

Darmenzi Chapter 16: Ending Maneuvers

Chapter 16: Ending Maneuvers

We’re in the final quarter of Darmenzi now! To start it off, we check in on someone we haven’t seen for a bit, then dive into a fantastic setting that gets broken into by another old “friend”. I’d have to say I particularly like this chapter, as we get to see some things we haven’t had a chance to examine too closely before, and the character interaction is amazing. When I get silly, I hold no punches from oversized novelty punching gloves.

On a side note, Slubes ebook is still free until… Wait, hold on… Smashwords is doing a sale this month. Okay! It’s free until the end of July, whee!

In other news, I’ve gotten work started on editing the third novel, Wandering Fortunes. I’m primarily combing through it right now for what major things I need to edit, but next week I’ll get underway on that. More on that near the end of the year!

More Frequent Posting

About a month or so ago I decided, hey, I should start trying to post more often. I was about to say as much when I remembered all the times I said I would do so and then didn’t, thereby looking like a fool. Then I thought, hey, maybe if I don’t say anything there will be no pressure and I’ll be able to do it easier!

So! How did that turn out?

Not very good no one’s surprised.

How did I do?
