Darmenzi now on Wattpad

… for some reason!

Yeah Darmenzi is gonna be put up on Wattpad now. Only the intro and first chapter so far, I’m going to update that on a weekly basis until it’s caught up with this website in 3 or 4 months. So there’s no reason for anyone on this website to care unless you know someone who likes Wattpad so much that they’d read it there.

Now for a spot of complaining

Four more days to Slubes!

The Slubes re-release comes out in just four days, so here’s one final excerpt from it featuring everyone’s favorite angry, edgy buzz saw whose name starts with S and has at least one letter in it that is more than two syllables, Sawn.

Another Slubes Excerpt

I would just like to take a brief moment here first to mention the great editor I had to help me rewrite Slubes, Dawn Johnson, with her website Word Edge here. She was super great in both critiquing the novel to help me improve and editing it to help the novel improve, and she was always ready to clarify and help me work out where to go. She helped me determine how to format the Duth Olec and Wally Plotch side conversations, get the story and characters more direction and flesh, and improve everything forever and completely totally.

Now here’s a totally new scene (or at least mostly new scene) that wouldn’t have been added without her advice, I think. There’s at least a couple scenes like that? Maybe a few? Or more? I don’t believe the ones I’m thinking of were added beforehand. Sheesh, it’s been 2 1/2 years, I don’t remember. In the version on this website, pretty much this whole thing is skipped–the story goes directly from their learning of the power plant problem to after Zeth examined it.

March 10th, 2016: Slubes Release Date

Can you tell which one is the new edition?

How about now?

Slubes Update: The Time is Near!

WHEN LAST WE LEFT OUR WRITERY HERO… er, wait. What was the last update I said? Probably “I’ll have something substantial later”. Well I will. And I do. Slubes is written, edited, re-edited, re-re-edited, formatted, formatted 2.0, and at this point pretty much all I have to do to consider it complete is get the physical proof book in the mail (should be here in a week or so) and make sure it looks good. Before this month is over, I should have a release date!

In the weeks leading up to that release date, I will… probably work on Darmenzi. I never stop working. *plays video games for several hours* What was I talking about? Oh, yeah. When the book releases, I’ll probably have a special release video stream where I read from the book and talk about it and such. More details on that closer to the release date, of course. I’ll also talk about it on Twitter and make some posts here, and I’ll post some excerpts from the completed version of Slubes. On that note, check the end of this post for the first-ever look at the completed for reals this time final version of Slubes.

Before we get to that, though, a few other notes: I’m working on some special projects, updating some things, and other odds and ends. I may be changing a few things around here, whether here means at the DOCC website or my Patreon, since this post goes up at both places. And has anyone seen my new profile image? I sure do look weird! If I’m forgetting anything important I’ll say it later, for right now let’s just get to watching as some slube wakes up.

Now up, Darmenzi Chapter 6: Mystery in the Winds

I made this available this morning but had not enough time to make a post about it, so here it is: Darmenzi Chapter 6: Mystery in the Winds. This chapter features a dragon, and maybe a dragon. Also, Numer setbacks, Duth silliness, and a missing arm.

I really do not post as often as I’d like. I hardly feel I have the time for it, though. Plus my small ramblings go to Twitter, and my weekly updates are at my Patreon, and this was not just a segue into talking about my Patreon!

Anyway, besides that, the busy season is starting at my day job, so blaargenhaargen to that. I’ll be active next year. That’ll be my New Year’s resolution: obtain ownership of all money in world so can spend more time here.

Chapter 3 of Darmenzi available

Go read it! It features a sad blob and mentions mysteries of histories. Spent a little while figuring out the new Patreon post editor; for a moment, I thought I’d have to deal with the image for the post being gigantic.

In other news, Slubes is off to the editor, so if I can’t say with certainty that the final product will be out before the end of the year, then… sheesh. Also, I’ll have something special up here around the middle of the month. Which means… I need to actually get that written. See you then!

Darmenzi Chapter 2 is available

Darmenzi Chapter 2: Celebration Blowout is available. In this chapter, everything is ruined. This… This happens several times throughout the story, actually. It features the return of everyone’s favorite cephalopod (would you BELIEVE this spellcheck doesn’t have cephalopod? I fixed it) Con’.

In Slubes news, it’s ready to go back to my editor. Now that it’s out of my hands for a little bit, I just need to get a couple months ahead on Darmenzi and suddenly I’m not in a constant state of emergepanichaos anymore! Yay!

Chapter 1 of Darmenzi is available! Also: A Note from the Same Author

The first chapter (as well as an author’s ramble- er, note?) of my second novel, Darmenzi, is now available. The pre-story note is here, and it basically introduces a big change from how the first edition if Slubes was, which is how the narrators sometimes interrupt the story. This is a change found in the second edition of Slubes that I’ll release later this summer (fingers crossed), and I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned it before.

Chapter 1: Old Awakenings reintroduces our friends from Slubes, bringing us up to speed a year after the first novel. After that, some light doom.

As for an update for my status, I’m just about done with the next draft of Slubes. My hope is that by the end of this month, or at least mid-May, I can post some examples of not-quite-finished-but-very-close excerpts.

And as always (or at least usually), I still have my Patreon, which had some changes in the last month. Anyone who gives $3 or more can read chapter 2 in just two weeks instead of another month! Gee, I hope I can finish the chapter by then!!

The final part of Slubes is available, and what happens this month

The end of Slubes is now available for everyone to read. That’s Slubes 1.0, of course; still working on Slubes 2.0. I am now working concurrently on Slubes and my next novel, Darmenzi, for the first chapter of Darmenzi will come in one month, and then everything changes.

Well, maybe not everything. But it sounds more dramatic then “and then lots of stuffs changes”. I’ll go further into details on these changes throughout this month. (Yep, it’s March. Change your calenders!) On this site I’ll be updating a lot of the pages on characters and such to match the changes I’ve made to names and everything, changes that will be in full effect for Darmenzi. I’m also going to make some changes to my Patreon, which still exists!
