Pokemon Moon Comic 67: Team Update 10 (plus bonus image)

As hinted at last time, Mimikyu has been added to the party, slick, along with Mareanie. This is a bittersweet point–Sludgy-Mouth is gone, who ended up being ridiculously fun to draw in the comic, but she is gone now. On the other hand, now we have Slick. MIMIKYU JOKES FOREVER.

I also have a bonus image. I’ve been drawing these in MS Paint but I’m going to move to Gimp entirely so I can use layers, but because of that it would be easier to start drawing it with smooth edges instead of the pixelly ones I’ve been doing. I made a test drawing with both styles and I still don’t know ahh

And yes this is an Inkling from Splatoon with a Mareanie hairstyle. You can change your hairstyle in Spla2n and I really want a Mareanie hairstyle available.

Pokemon Moon Comic 66: Wonderful Trade

FINALLY

It’s a true story, too. I had been trying to get a Mareanie, but Corsola is rare and even when I found one it was a pain to make it call for help so when I finally got a Mareanie but its nature was bad I figured I would just make some Mareanie eggs, that’d be easier! Fortunately I got a female. But I didn’t have a male of the right egg group! I could’ve just gotten a male Wingull or something, but I figured Wonder Trading to get what I needed would be more interesting. Since I almost practically skipped gen 6 I never got to try it much.

By the time I was done, not only did I get this Chinese Mimikyu, but I also got a Litten, a Rowlett, AND a Popplio! (The last of which ended up being the Mareanie’s father.)

Pokemon Moon Comic 65: Pass

The ride Pokemon are so big that you can very clearly be in a trainers’ line of sight but they won’t notice because your hitbox or whatever doesn’t extend that far. Meanwhile the hitbox for overworld objects extends about twice their size.

Pokemon Moon Comic 64: Metamorphosis

Gen 7 was very good for Bug-types, which is good considering the terrible showing it had in gen 6. And Araquanid is kind of ridiculous for a Pokemon that evolves on level 22.

Also, happy I get to draw Ribombee now. Like Cutiefly, its appendages are very fluid and wobbly.

Pokemon Moon Comic 63: Crack in Time

EITHER THAT OR  COUNT BLECK FORCED A MARRIAGE BETWEEN KIRLIA AND BLASTOISE.

Coincidentally, the new season of Doctor Who started last weekend! For a while now I’ve actually kicked around the idea of Pokemon Time Lords, basically Time Lords but they’re Pokemon, with the unique feature that upon regeneration they become entirely different Pokemon. The Doctormon is a Wobbuffet but upon regeneration becomes a Smeargle. It’s a concept I’d still like to do something with someday, but as I have the art skill of… well… *looks up* I couldn’t go about drawing it myself.

Pokemon Moon Comic 61 and 62

I really like how this one came out. The book, Oranguru considering it was my first time drawing it. Some of the Pokemon were cramped, especially around Dewpider and Wishiwashi, but it worked out well. I also realized the circles on the book should’ve been angled a bit but oh well. I liked it enough to make a version without names.

This one is just silly.

Pokemon Moon Comic 51-60: Travels of Akala Island

I finished comic 60 a while ago but totally forgot to put these up here! I should look into having a separate page for these I can just update with new comics but oh well. In this comic, stuff happens. Then the last comic was ridiculous to make. Longest one so far.

Read 10 more comics!

Pokemon Moon Comic 41-50: Refreshing Glass of Bugbus

It’s been a while since the last posting of these. Not doing the dayjob now means I have more time, but working heavily on the novels means I have less time. My schedule showed I should’ve had comic 50 done a week ago, since I want to do three a week… Anyway, in this group we get a couple evolutions (including one of the best gen 7 Pokemon), some new team members, and a trial. Also I would legit pay $60 for a Hey You, Wooper! game.

Pokemon Moon Comic 21-30: Eating and Island Trial

I’m slowing down a bit because I’m busy at the day job where I would usually draw the stuff, doing the coloring and touching-up after I got home. On the bright side, I don’t have to sell anymore at the day job, since now I’m doing customer service, which is a loooot busier than sales. No one really wants to talk to sales. Actually, no one really wants to talk to customer service either.

Anyway, comics!

Pokemon Moon Comic: 20 comics already?

A while ago I mentioned I was going to be doing a Pokemon Moon comic since I don’t have enough time to focus on editing right now. The comic really requires less focus and can be easily picked up at a later point–do a brief drawing for a few minutes, then do something else. With writing I need to spend a lot of time focused on it, and if I come back to it a while later in the middle of something then everything will be interrupted and confusing. I need to have all the time in the day available.

Well, I’m actually surprised I kept this up so far. Drawing is never something I’ve done well, and a lot of the time I give up. This, I think, is because I tried to make it look decent and also didn’t just throw it together in MS Paint. I use MS Paint and a mouse for all this. It makes it work because I don’t care as much. When there are no outlines, then you are truly free.

Unless I’m writing a book in which case freedom is confusing and goes nowhere and falls off a cliff.

If you follow my Twitter you’ll see I’ve been posting them there. You can also see them in the sidebar there. When I’m not talking politics, I guess. I’ll probably post them here on the website in batches of ten after this. As I said before, I didn’t want to fill this place with a comic every day when the focus is my original creative Cloudy Cuckoo Cosmos endeavors (although maybe I shouldn’t care about that distinction??)

Anyway, here’s the comics!
