The conclusion of Darmenzi! Chapter 20: Fallen Oblivion

It’s finally here. We’re finally here. The final chapter of Darmenzi, Chapter 20: Fallen Oblivion is here! It all concludes with a bang, a smash, and a reveal. Will everyone survive? Will everyone live? Will I let this stand??

The conclusion ends with a brief discussion on the next book, Wandering Fortunes. More on that when I have time. For now, enjoy the conclusion to this story running for 1 2/3 years, the second (and first real) story I wrote for NaNoWriMo, which… begins today. Coincidence? Yes. I’m too busy to do anything for it, though.

Chapter 14 of Darmenzi, Solid Stone Will, now up

Here‘s chapter 14 of Darmenzi, which brings us to an area first shown in Slubes but never actually traveled to. It also features bush animals and a puzzle.

In related news, I finished the main editing of the last chapter of Darmenzi yesterday, so now it’s time to go back and do wider edits such as tightening the character arcs and insert other words here that makes it sound like I know what I’m doing. I hope to have that done by mid-June if not end-May.

As always there is my Patreon, where patrons can read these chapters early and get expectations!! Are they great expectations? Well, they’re not bad.

Darmenzi Chapter 10: Crazy Eyes

Did I say tomorrow?

Yeah it just kinda sorta slipped my mind. I spent most of yesterday with my parents, okay? Anyway, here’s chapter 10 of Darmenzi, Crazy Eyes. This chapter introduces a new character who, UM. Yeah, the title explains it all.

With this chapter, we are halfway finished with Darmenzi. Our heroes have spent the first half of the book not sure what they’re doing, let’s see how they spend the second half! As we enter into a new year, I hope to complete not one but two books (although I expect to complete the second at the beginning of next year), while the end of the year should bring the start of a third story.

And, as always, we have my Patreon, which gets these chapters half a month early and, um, when I have updates on how things are going, gets those updates first. Hey, I appreciate anything helpful.

Darmenzi Chapter 9, Hospitality to Hostility, now up

Darmenzi Chapter 9

I’ve never quite figured out how I want to write the titles for these posts. I don’t just want to put the chapter name, but… Anyway, chapter 9. It’s a big one, it’s an important one, but only in the second half. The first half is a hotel, woo.

Also, I just noticed it looks like WordPress post adding writing thingy has changed since I last didn’t avoid using the older one. Because I still use the old one when I can. As long as I can avoid everything being shifted several inches and a lack of easily-accessed most used tags, and an overdone amount of only parts of the page scrolling, and… a preview feature that’s just an inset window on the same page? I feel like it may have been designed for mobile. I feel like everything now is designed for mobile. I feel like I want to plant myself in place like a tree just to make a point. I feel like I shouldn’t have written this paragraph because now I’m going to be late for dayjob. I feel like I stopped caring.

Maybe someday I can care even less if my Patreon starts jumping. Maybe you should take a look at what a future might hold. (For the record, I have complaints on Patreon’s post creator, too, but I feel like they’re at least working towards a good direction.)

Anyway, superbusydayjobwork season ends in a week, maybe then I can be uplifting! Or at least updrafting.

New Darmenzi chapter 8, Faulty Alliance

I’ve been sick the past couple days, so this is up a day late. I’m feeling mostly better, still kinda mucusy and coughing and I’m sure after dayjob today I’ll feel lousy but I guess that’s the price for capitalism: always feelin’ lousy.

Anyway, chapter 8: a critical chapter in the story. Deals are made, lost, won, and purple. The gamebook is stabbed a few times. Things get heavy, or at least heavier, or at least havier, or at least haviless. Somebody’s angry! And nobody knows what to dooooo. Dead end, the end, the star got stuck in a wall.

Just read it before I have to make more of these ridiculous remarks. As always, my Patreon is a thing that may someday help me live off writing, which will make being sick less of a problem because I won’t have to talk to people all day. (Seriously, sore throat makes that impossible.)

Lastly, I’ve started editing Slubes for the final version; being sick kinda put a halt to that, but I’ll get back to it this week and try to push through while dayjob is forcing overtime and did I mention Patreon yet? I did? Okay. I should have information on the final release of Slubes by the end of the year–not an exact release date, I don’t think, but a pretty good idea.

Chapter 7 of Darmenzi, Scrape in the City, available

Chapter 7: Scrape in the City

Here is chapter seven of Darmenzi, which features crashes and chaos. There is a semi-truck. The police get involved. Someone jumps off a bridge. Aaaand Wiggleboggle.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand as always Patreon. I am good at creating excitement. Especially in the morning.

Now up, Darmenzi Chapter 6: Mystery in the Winds

I made this available this morning but had not enough time to make a post about it, so here it is: Darmenzi Chapter 6: Mystery in the Winds. This chapter features a dragon, and maybe a dragon. Also, Numer setbacks, Duth silliness, and a missing arm.

I really do not post as often as I’d like. I hardly feel I have the time for it, though. Plus my small ramblings go to Twitter, and my weekly updates are at my Patreon, and this was not just a segue into talking about my Patreon!

Anyway, besides that, the busy season is starting at my day job, so blaargenhaargen to that. I’ll be active next year. That’ll be my New Year’s resolution: obtain ownership of all money in world so can spend more time here.

Chapter 5 of Darmenzi, Invisible Beard, now up

Darmenzi Chapter 5: Invisible Beard is now up and available and readable and has a gooey marshmallow center. Except maybe not that last part. Sorry.

It features ghosts and pirates. What more could the internet want? A dragon? Okay!

As for me, things are as the same as they were last month as ever. I really want to quit my day job, but I can’t because we live in a society that makes you waste your life so that you can not die? Oh society, you’re so full of contradictions.

At least I’m still a few months ahead on Darmenzi. Should be halfway with the editing in a couple weeks. Still no news on Slubes, but you know what they say, no news tells you absolutely nothing about the situation, and while some may say it is positive information, others will begin to go crazy thinking of all the worst possible scenarios! Put that on a shirt and sell it! Go ahead, people will love it! Except it has a lot of words so they’ll probably actually hate you for it.

As always, Patreon is where you can give me money when I post these chapters. Perhaps someday I’ll be able to post two chapters a month, at which point that “really want to quit my day job” might be feasible.

Chapter 1 of Darmenzi is available! Also: A Note from the Same Author

The first chapter (as well as an author’s ramble- er, note?) of my second novel, Darmenzi, is now available. The pre-story note is here, and it basically introduces a big change from how the first edition if Slubes was, which is how the narrators sometimes interrupt the story. This is a change found in the second edition of Slubes that I’ll release later this summer (fingers crossed), and I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned it before.

Chapter 1: Old Awakenings reintroduces our friends from Slubes, bringing us up to speed a year after the first novel. After that, some light doom.

As for an update for my status, I’m just about done with the next draft of Slubes. My hope is that by the end of this month, or at least mid-May, I can post some examples of not-quite-finished-but-very-close excerpts.

And as always (or at least usually), I still have my Patreon, which had some changes in the last month. Anyone who gives $3 or more can read chapter 2 in just two weeks instead of another month! Gee, I hope I can finish the chapter by then!!

Character Profile: Cherry

The third main character in this novel called Slubes is Cherry, a 23-year old slube. She’s the only one of the three born and raised in Nottle, yet despite being from the quietest hometown she’s the most outgoing. She has a real gusto for life and wants to get out and find excitement. Although I often refer to her as the competent one, she can be rash and doesn’t always look before she leaps. She’s confident in all areas except for her father (although, quite frankly, the same could be said for him).

For most of her life she’s been restrained by her ever-worried father, a situation that has caused tension between them. She was allowed to take karate lessons when she was younger, but for the rest of the time he’s been overprotective. In going out on this adventure, she hopes to show her father that she can take care of herself, although hopefully he doesn’t have a nervous breakdown from it.

She’s also the one to have done research on the origins of the crystal—legends of a demon ravaging the islands that Zeth believes to be nonsense. Whatever’s really going on, these three heroes are out to get to the bottom of it—but the answer really lies at the top. In three days my novel comes out, and on that day I will post an introduction to the instigator of this crisis and our protagonist.

For now, have another excerpt.
