Wandering Fortunes Chapter 3: Homed Out, now available

Now available on DVD and Blu-Ray

Wandering Fortunes Chapter 3 is up, wherein Top quits and then retires to a good home on a farm upstate. There’s also some politics with the Micagox. But obviously as always the highlight is Top’s spouting nonsense. They request maternity leave at one point?

As always my Patreon is Patreonning, or whatever, with previews and peeks and what I’m working on now and early chapters. Chapter 4 will be there in just a couple weeks. Top becomes a housewife! (They don’t become a housewife.)

Wandering Fortunes is here! Chapter 1: Guardian of Goofiness

Wandering Fortunes Intro
Chapter 1: Guardian of Goofiness

The first chapter of the Wandering Fortunes is finally here, in the year of 2017! After a brief introduction by Duth and Wally, we get in the head of someone in the process of being created. This someone is Top. Top is crazy. Top for best character 2017. Unfortunately, those what created Top don’t think so.

I first started writing Slubes at the beginning of 2010. Seven years later the first new setting and group of characters of the Cloudy Cuckoo Cosmos since the beginning starts. I hope you enjoy Wandering Fortunes enough to make the next 3 1/2 years feel like just 2. (Which could totally be done if I reached the Patreon goal where I began to post 2 chapters a month.)

The cover for Wandering Fortunes is, well, not done yet. But it’s close! The artist is working on it, and it should be completed before the second chapter in February.

As for 2016, it was a weird year. A lot of people thought it was terrible. I’m not sure it was any worse than previous years aside from the election, which was kind of worse than past elections. But I actually had a surprisingly good year, with Slubes finally refinished and lots of work on Darmenzi done, along with the prog version being fully posted online. I also started a weird Pokemon comic because I have no time for real work.

Now we have 2017. I hope to finish Darmenzi and release the final version, and I hope to get more work done on Wandering Fortunes. I’m sure you’ll all love it. Have fun with Top’s oddball antics!

The conclusion of Darmenzi! Chapter 20: Fallen Oblivion

It’s finally here. We’re finally here. The final chapter of Darmenzi, Chapter 20: Fallen Oblivion is here! It all concludes with a bang, a smash, and a reveal. Will everyone survive? Will everyone live? Will I let this stand??

The conclusion ends with a brief discussion on the next book, Wandering Fortunes. More on that when I have time. For now, enjoy the conclusion to this story running for 1 2/3 years, the second (and first real) story I wrote for NaNoWriMo, which… begins today. Coincidence? Yes. I’m too busy to do anything for it, though.

Darmenzi Chapter 15: Abandoned Electric Isle now available

Duth_Olec: Hey, you try coming up for good designs for elemental guardian thingies that aren’t actually elemental. I mean, that is to say, whatever brought these guardians into being was probably amazing and smart and at least passable in looks.

Chapter 15: Abandoned Electric Isle

Chapter 15 now available, featuring a mysterious island and a bunch of electricity everywhere. It’s dangerous and weird and definitely not my fault.

With this chapter we are 3/4 through Darmenzi! The end of the year will see the finish of this story. The actual release of the novel, well, who knows?

Chapter 14 of Darmenzi, Solid Stone Will, now up

Here‘s chapter 14 of Darmenzi, which brings us to an area first shown in Slubes but never actually traveled to. It also features bush animals and a puzzle.

In related news, I finished the main editing of the last chapter of Darmenzi yesterday, so now it’s time to go back and do wider edits such as tightening the character arcs and insert other words here that makes it sound like I know what I’m doing. I hope to have that done by mid-June if not end-May.

As always there is my Patreon, where patrons can read these chapters early and get expectations!! Are they great expectations? Well, they’re not bad.

Darmenzi Chapter 13 now up

Oh, um, er, eh, April Fool’s! Yes, it was totally intentional that I didn’t post the new chapter yesterday. ha ha ha ha hahahahahaHAHAHAHAHA HA HA HA HA HA. HA. HA. HA. HA.

ha

So here’s chapter 13 of Darmenzi, Aquasphere. It features water and a brief discussion of anime and was rather significantly edited a few years ago after I played the demo of a little game called Undertale, maybe you’ve heard of it.

I’ve had about 5 hours of sleep now so I need a nap. Mention of Patreon, which I think I just discovered every post I’ve made announcing new chapters up have only been available to patrons?? I like don’t even know. I’m confused now. Gee, what else is new?

Excerpt from Slubes new edition

If you may recall from near a year ago when I started posting Darmenzi chapters, the occasional interruption of Duth Olec (and Wally Plotch’s responses) in the story has been redesigned so that it is easier to understand, now being in the form of something like a chat log. As Darmenzi began with this, and the old Slubes began with an introduction by Wally and Duth, the new Slubes begins with Wally trying to figure out what he’s doing and Duth being me.

Now up, Darmenzi Chapter 6: Mystery in the Winds

I made this available this morning but had not enough time to make a post about it, so here it is: Darmenzi Chapter 6: Mystery in the Winds. This chapter features a dragon, and maybe a dragon. Also, Numer setbacks, Duth silliness, and a missing arm.

I really do not post as often as I’d like. I hardly feel I have the time for it, though. Plus my small ramblings go to Twitter, and my weekly updates are at my Patreon, and this was not just a segue into talking about my Patreon!

Anyway, besides that, the busy season is starting at my day job, so blaargenhaargen to that. I’ll be active next year. That’ll be my New Year’s resolution: obtain ownership of all money in world so can spend more time here.

Chapter 1 of Darmenzi is available! Also: A Note from the Same Author

The first chapter (as well as an author’s ramble- er, note?) of my second novel, Darmenzi, is now available. The pre-story note is here, and it basically introduces a big change from how the first edition if Slubes was, which is how the narrators sometimes interrupt the story. This is a change found in the second edition of Slubes that I’ll release later this summer (fingers crossed), and I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned it before.

Chapter 1: Old Awakenings reintroduces our friends from Slubes, bringing us up to speed a year after the first novel. After that, some light doom.

As for an update for my status, I’m just about done with the next draft of Slubes. My hope is that by the end of this month, or at least mid-May, I can post some examples of not-quite-finished-but-very-close excerpts.

And as always (or at least usually), I still have my Patreon, which had some changes in the last month. Anyone who gives $3 or more can read chapter 2 in just two weeks instead of another month! Gee, I hope I can finish the chapter by then!!

A Note from an Author

You may have read that last post, got to the end, and thought “what is going on, why did the font change, who is the narrator arguing with”. (And you may have read that sentence and thought “what does he mean ‘why did the font change’ I don’t remember that”, in which case you read an earlier version of the post.) Anyway, if you were reading Slubes, chances are you would have seen this first:

A Note from an Author

Good day, readers. My name is Wally Plotch. I suppose you could call me the writer of this work. Duth Olec prefers to call me the court stenographer, but even simply stenographer would not be wholly accurate. I guess I’m somewhere between a reporter and a writer. Duth is the creator and the presenter. It is our combined efforts that bring this story to you.

And any problems you have with it are Wally’s fault!

Hey! No! You said you wouldn’t interfere on this first outing!

Well we haven’t outed yet, have we? I just want everybody to know that it’s all Wally’s fault.

Stop that. Or I’ll make you do this on your own.

All right, all right. Go ahead; I’ll get things started…

In this novel, as in probably all my novels will be, the narrator is Wally Plotch; he’s not thrilled about the job, but at least I’m there to spur him along, or distract him, or whatever it is I do. To distinguish between his writing and my occasional input (It doesn’t happen very often, I only speak up when I’m needed, I do not abuse this power!), different fonts are used (not the ones you see here, this is just for the blog)… except in the e-book version, which uses a uniform font throughout. Instead they’re enclosed within {}.

Also, you may have noticed a footnote in yesterday’s excerpt. There’s footnotes! After all, this is a crazy new world that you’ve never seen, gaddfern it! You need to know what the hex is going on sometimes! Carp!

Now that I’ve told you about the semantics, or whatever, maybe next time I’ll post something that will make people interested! Well, tomorrow’s Mother’s Day, so I might take the day off, and I take every Monday off because I’m a jerk who likes to laugh at people who have jobs (STRESSLESS), so Tuesday might be more! Might be not! I’m not sure how much of the novel I will actually go and post up here, but we’ll see.
